How to Make Your Own Solar Panels

By Ryan K Lim
Having your own solar panels can be quite beneficial since you can get free unlimited supply of energy from sunlight. Nowadays, there are many readymade packages readily available at a cost ranging around $2000 to $3000. If you are looking for a cheaper solution, you might want to make your own solar panels. It is cheaper and it is not as difficult as you may think. The materials that you need will cost less than $500.
1. The Necessary Component
To build your own solar panels there are several components you need to prepare first, those components are: sheet of copper, an electric stove, two alligator clip leads, a micro-meter, sand paper, and sheet metal shears, table salt, tap water. All of these components will be used to build solar cells.
2. The Importance Of Solar Cells
Solar cells are a crucial part since it converts solar energy into electric energy. Without it, no sunlight that can be gathered through your solar cells.
3. Build Your Own Solar Panels
After collecting all the components, you must clean the copper sheet carefully to avoid any remaining traces of sulphide. Then cut a piece of copper sheet in accordance with the size of your electric stove. Make sure the size is right.
Heat the copper sheet on burner, after that cool the copper sheet slowly. During the end of this process you will get a copper sheet in form of layer with soft red cuprous oxide.
During the last step you will have two copper sheets, one with red cuprous oxide, and the other which is a clean free copper sheet. The red cuprous oxide must be connected to the negative terminal, while the clean one must be connected with the positive terminal.
Place the saltwater at the bottom of the plates as the last step, and you are done, you have made your own solar panels.
There are several guides online that provides step by step instructions on how to assemble together your own solar panels. It may not look nice than commercial readymade packages but it is cheaper and it works just as well.

Build Your Own Solar Panels - Factors to Consider While You Build Your Own Solar Panel

By N Jamal

Are you aiming to build your own solar panels? If you are then you are in great luck as today I'm going to tell you some factors that will assist you in building your own solar panel.
What are the factors to consider?
1. Budget
You can either choose to give a contract some commercial company to set up a system for you or you can build one yourself. As you would expect, the budget that you need to set aside would be comparatively much higher if you hire a professional than doing it yourself. A commercial setup of solar system would cost you something around $20000 to $30000, the same job if chosen to be done on you own can be done for lesser than $1500.
2. Technical Skills
Some technical skills are required if you are to setup a solar panel yourself. A basic knowledge of sawing and working with wires would be required. If you are a DIY buff, you would have the basic skills that will be required.
3. Basic Tools and Equipment
If you have a toolbox in your home, you will find a saw, measuring tape, sand paper, screws, nails, hammer and other simple tools in there are these are the simple tools that would be needed by you.
4. Clear & Unblocked View of Sun
You need to make sure that your house is getting a clear unblocked view of the sun. The quantity of sunlight that can be captured depends on this. If there are branches of trees that block your solar panels, trim them off a bit so that you panels are able to capture maximum sunlight,
5. A Step-By-Step DIY Instruction Manual
It's highly recommended to get an instruction manual that will show you the exact steps that will help to build your own solar panels. These manuals contain complete plans and diagrams that will show exactly how to fix each component. It's easy to feel completely lost without a good manual. Following the instructions listed in the manual you can make your own solar power panel merely by spending half a weekend!
Stop throwing money out of the window. Build your own solar panels today for less than $200 and save up to 80% on your electric bills or even completely eliminate them.

How to Build Your Own Solar Panel

A Solar panel is something which can be called a device, and this device is usually a converter. It converts the solar energy into photons of light. These photons come from sun and this converter converts these photons into electricity. A stream of light's wavelength is required to perform this task. Beside that solar power is an eco-friendly source of energy which makes it more attractive.

Building your own solar panel is a tricky thing but not a difficult one. With the help of correct steps and material we can easily build our own Solar panel. First of all we have to make sure that we have enough space for building our Solar cells. In many cases, the large amount of sunlight can be found in our backyards or our lawns/gardens. Then comes the placing of photovoltaic cells on the floor of our location where we want to build the solar panel. These cells will be heaped up one after another in horizontal fashion. Make sure that you install these cells at that angle where sunlight could be maximally captured and stored inside.

I recently purchased a very easy to follow guide which had information on how to build your own solar panel. It also contained instructions on how to build your own wind generator, which is what i embarked on first and is already delivering excellent results. The guide stated that I could build the solar panel with materials readily available from your average hardware store and the simplicity of the guide meant that anyone could build it. My solar panel comprised of a photovoltaic cell and wiring, that's all basically. All you have to do then is strengthen it with a wooden frame, easy as that. The main selling point was that this could all be done for less than $200! The guide offered a 100% money back guarantee so I thought, "what the hell, if it's a lot of rubbish I'll demand my refund!".

I'm happy to say that wasn't necessary, my power generating wind turbine coupled with my solar panel have only been installed for two months and have already cut my electricity bill by 30%! I also feel a lot better about myself as I feel I'm doing my little bit for the planet. I'm now in the middle of building my second solar panel, eventually I'll be producing enough power to live completely off the grid!
